Read on to find out more about our team of family court lawyers and highly professional support staff. Family Law Consultancy is a family law firm based in Norwich. Working throughout Norfolk, we seek to help you navigate life’s challenges with sympathy, integrity and high-quality legal representation.

Stephanie Walmsley

Director & Solicitor / Practice Manager

Steph qualified as a solicitor in 2003, after training with award winning Legal 500 and local Norwich firm, MJP solicitors. After leading their family department, Steph moved to Family Law Consultancy in 2006 and subsequently became a director in the company.

Steph takes a down to earth, no nonsense approach. The family lawyers’ group, Resolution, operates a rigorous accreditation scheme so that the public can recognise those lawyers who are truly family law specialists. Steph is an accredited Resolution specialist in divorce finance and children law cases, and she also holds The Law Society’s own family law panel accreditation.

Steph is sympathetic, clear and approachable, and she works hard to help her clients through life’s challenges, using her legal skills to achieve realistic goals. She always acts with consideration, respect and honesty. Steph’s clients say of her: “She was a star for me and kept me on the straight and narrow. She kept the light shining at the end of the tunnel. She was a pleasure to work with from a professional and personal point of view.”

Robin Wide

Director & Solicitor / Collaborative Lawyer

Robin originally trained as a barrister but decided to become a solicitor, enjoying the greater level of day-to-day client contact, as well as court work, which the solicitor role affords.

Robin qualified in financial remedy cases, dealing with how the assets of the marriage should be apportioned between the parties. Robin is also a Resolution trained collaborative family lawyer.

Robin takes an unflappable, decisive and pragmatic approach to his work that is often appreciated by clients who feel they need structure and an action plan to move forward with their case.

One of Robin’s clients says: “I found Robin to provide excellent service as well as allowing me to be slightly unprofessional at stressful times during the case”.

Catherine McAleese

Paralegal

Catherine originally qualified as a solicitor in 2010, having trained in the fields of defendant personal injury, general commercial, and property law. She subsequently decided to take some time out from working within the legal profession to travel and work in education and office management. Catherine returned to the legal profession in November 2022, when she joined our team working as a paralegal, and she is delighted to be back working in the legal sector and working in family law.

Catherine adopts a friendly, empathetic, and attentive approach and is committed to helping our clients achieve the best possible outcome.

In her spare time, Catherine enjoys socialising with friends and family, cycling, drawing and painting.

Rosemary Mitchell

 Accounts Manager

Rosemary has been with our family law firm since 2007. She previously worked as a management accountant and now runs the day-to-day financial administration of the business. An important part of her role is to control the business bank accounts and ensure that client monies are carefully managed in accordance with Solicitors’ Accounting Rules.

Previously, Rosemary spent 35 years working as a management accountant and payroll and pensions manager for the UK division of a large, privately-owned American company.

Rosemary is assisted by Pippa Derrick, who returned to the firm in 2023, moving to an accounts role from her previous position as a legal secretary.  In her spare time Pippa runs a small-holding and enjoys spending time in the countryside.
