Cohabitation / Living Together Agreement

The Law treats unmarried couples differently to those who are married. Therefore, unmarried, cohabiting couples can benefit from having a legal agreement (rather like a contract) which helps to provide certainty in relation to their financial and property arrangements. Matters relating to any children can also be addressed. It is important to be aware that the agreement is not strictly binding on the Court in the event of any subsequent dispute. However, the Courts will often stick to the agreement, provided it has been properly and fairly prepared and both parties have had legal advice.

We can advise you as to the issues that you and your partner may wish to consider and, once you have agreed these issues, we can prepare the agreement for you for signature.
